Applications are now open for the 27th Islands Youth Parliament (IYP)!

If you’re passionate about politics, want to make a change in your community, interested in developing skills like public speaking and writing legislation, or want to meet a fantastic group of like-minded young people, IYP is for you! The Islands Youth Parliament is a regional youth parliament (RYP) organized by the British Columbia Youth Parliament (BCYP), a non-partisan, non-profit organization that aims to serve the youth of BC and educate young people about how to participate in and understand parliamentary procedure and legislative processes.

IYP will take place May 24-26, 2019 at the University of Victoria; It is open to anyone aged 14-18 inclusive, who live on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, or the Sunshine Coast (see application for more details), and more; please contact us at if you are unsure if you are inside the regional boundaries). Outside of the IYP boundaries and still want to come? Apply as an ambassador!

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY May 20th, 2019! Financial assistance is available upon request, please contact us at for more information on this, or with any other questions you may have. Our Chief Returning Officer, Sophie Sacilotto, will notify all applicants as to their application status by late May.
