Dear BCYP alumni,
Are you itching to give back after your time in BCYP, or wondering what other alumni have been up to? Consider enrolling in our Monthly Giving campaign, which gives you various perks for monthly or one-time contributions.
For clarity, the Monthly Giving campaign is intended for reducing the cost of BCYP membership through supporting Senate. For ways to support BCYP’s activities, see BCYP’s social media or other parts of this website.
If you would like to enrol or ask any questions, please do not hesitate to contact [placeholder]. We greatly appreciate your support and welcome your presence in BCYP alumni circles.
Warmly,
BCYP Senate

Sponsor-a-Seat
Sponsor-a-Seat is one perk option for Monthly Giving’s Premier tier, meaning $45 monthly gifts or one $550 one-time gift. Sponsor-a-Seat allows donors to set certain criteria for the Members their gifted funds will prioritize.
Funding
Donors may list a specific type of Parliamentarian they would like to sponsor without discrimination on protected grounds as listed in the BC Human Rights Code and other applicable legislation.
This may include the following:
Region or City
First Nations, Inuit, or Métis
First-time member
Need for a bursary
From a specific organization (Rotary, Lions, etc)
Financial need
Should the specific type of Parliamentarian targeted with a bursary not require any funding (i.e. all members from Terrace are able to fully cover the costs of attending session), funds will be used to support another member seeking financial support. Should there be no members seeking financial support, funds will be used to reduce the registration fee of all members.
Naming
Donors may choose any name for their fund, subject to the approval of the Youth Parliament of BC Alumni Society Executive (Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary).
The BCYP website will have a separate, “Sponsor-a-Seat” recognition page to advertise sponsored seats for Members based on predetermined, specific, and non-discriminatory characteristics. This may be of benefit to potential BCYP applicants, as they may be encouraged to apply based on the advertised availability of funding.
Recognition
All sponsored seats will be listed in the Sessional Journal. An electronic copy of the journal upon its completion by the Clerk will be provided to the donor with personal information redacted.
Sponsor-a-Seat donors will have their own standalone entry in the sponsorship section of the journal. Entries will be similar to the current entry for the Hugh Curtis Fund, which reads as follows:
The Hugh Curtis BC Youth Parliament Fund was established by the Association of Former MLAs of British Columbia to honour Hugh’s dedication and hard work in keeping the Association alive and thriving.
Grants from the Fund acknowledge Hugh’s interest in youth and his commitment to the British Columbia Youth Parliament. The Fund provides opportunities for wider participation in the Youth Parliament’s annual sessions in the Parliament Buildings in Victoria by helping to defray travel and accommodation expenses for two youth who live outside the Greater Victoria area.
Sponsor-a-Meal
Sponsor-a-Meal is the other option for Monthly Giving’s Premier tier, meaning $45 monthly gifts or one $550 one-time gift. Sponsor-a-Meal operates similarly to past sponsorships of meals at Session, such as the parents of past Premiers (such as Chris Coulson or Nathan How) or Beta Sigma Phi.
As part of Sponsor-a-Meal, donors may:
Enter the Hall of Honour,
Make remarks before the meal,
Have their name listed in the Resolution of Thanks, the Sessional schedule, and the Journal, and
Give verbal greetings, subject to the consent of the Premier.
