BCYP 105: Four Places to Eat in Victoria

You’ll be on the hook for paying for four meals in Victoria asides from breakfast — two lunches and two dinners. While you can choose to go anywhere you’d like, here are four options that BCYP members love!

1) Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory (or “the Old Spag”, as BCYP members call it) is probably the third most important building in Victoria after the Legislature and Government House. Offering up Italian cuisine, expect to leave the Old Spag feeling stuffed!

Benefit: A full meal for one price, including bread, a soup or salad, entree, spumoni, and a hot drink for one price; very close in proximity to the Legislature

Drawback: A long wait without a reservation, can cost up to $25

2) Noodlebox

If you’re a person who values flavour like me, Noodlebox is the place for you! Only a five minute walk from the BC Leg, this fast casual restaurant provides Southeast Asian style street food at a low price. Expect to spend less than $15 here, tip included!

Benefit: Cheap, quick service, one of the few quality ethnic restaurants in the downtown core

Drawback: Minimal seating during peak hours

3) The Bay Centre Food Court

The Bay Centre is the premier shopping centre in Victoria, located a few minutes away from the Legislature. The food court is a classic mall food court, with a number of fast food options. If your group can’t decide on a type of cuisine, the easiest way to settle this dispute is to all grab something different at the Bay Centre.

Benefit: The fastest service in Victoria, can expect to spend less than $10, and you could have time for quick shopping afterwards

Drawback: Minimal seating during peak hours

4) Tacofino

A portmanteau of the words “taco” and “Tofino”, Tacofino is a BC born institution that serves West Coast style seafood tacos.

Benefit: Quick service, can expect to spend less than $15

Drawback: A 12 minute walk from the Legislature, busy, and only has 20 dine-in seats
